The method for axially- and rotationally fixed arrangement of a chain wheel (4) having a middle opening with a first diameter, on a crankshaft (1) having a large second diameter, comprises splitting the chain wheel before the arrangement, and axially clamping the chain wheel by a thermal joining process between two shaft segments (5, 6) having two second diameters. The crankshaft is subjected at a high temperature than the chain wheel before the joining process. The chain wheel deprives heat before the joining process and the heat is supplied to the crankshaft. The method for axially- and rotationally fixed arrangement of a chain wheel (4) having a middle opening with a first diameter, on a crankshaft (1) having a large second diameter, comprises splitting the chain wheel before the arrangement, and axially clamping the chain wheel by a thermal joining process between two shaft segments (5, 6) having two second diameters. The crankshaft is subjected at a high temperature than the chain wheel before the joining process. The chain wheel deprives heat before the joining process and the heat is supplied to the crankshaft. An adhesive is introduced into a joining gap (11) between the chain wheel and the shaft segments before the joining process and connects axially and/or radially adjoining joining areas (9, 10) of the chain wheel and/or the shaft segments with one another in a positively locking manner. The joining areas of the chain wheel and the shaft segments are provided with a predetermined roughness before the joining process. The chain wheel parts are joined to each other after the joining process and are connected with one another by a welding process.
