The device (34) delivers a command for adjusting a braking pressure of brakes (18.1, 18.2, 20.1, 20.2) to a test pressure. A movement characteristic value e.g. wheel slippage value, displaying a deceleration of a commercial vehicle (10) is detected. The braking pressure is increased to another test pressure when the test pressure is not controlled at the deceleration and/or at a gain of the deceleration. The device stores the former test pressure as a reaction pressure when the former test pressure is controlled at the deceleration and/or at the gain of the deceleration. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a braking system comprising a slip detection device (2) a method for controlling a braking system.
