The method involves connecting mechanically the wheels (10) with a steering wheel (3) of the motor vehicle (1) by a steering column (4). The length of the tie rod (8) assigned to the wheel is changed corresponding to the determined tracked values of the wheels for changing the relative position of the wheels. The values of the changing steering angle of the steering column measured by a steering angle sensor (16) is provided for determining the tracked values during the adjustment of the length of a tie rod. An independent claim is also included for a device for adjusting the track of steered wheels in a steering system of a motor vehicle.
