N-(1-Oxo-1,3-dihydro-2-benzofuran-5-yl)alkylamide derivative (I) and their tautomeric forms, enantiomers in isolated form or in mixture, cis/trans isomers in isolated form or mixture or solvates, are new. N-(1-Oxo-1,3-dihydro-2-benzofuran-5-yl)alkylamide derivative of formula (I) and their tautomeric forms, enantiomers in isolated form or in mixture, cis/trans isomers in isolated form or mixture or solvates, are new. R : H, halo (preferably F or Cl) or OH (preferred); and n : 0 or 1. Independent claims are included for: (1) the preparation of (I); (2) composition for caring and/or making up of keratin materials containing (I) in a medium; and (3) cosmetic care of hair, human scalp and/or humans eyelashes to improve their condition and/ or appearance, comprising applying on the hair, human scalp, humans eyelashes, and/or eyelids, a cosmetic composition comprising (I), leaving the composition on the hair; and optionally rinsing.
