PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a construction of vertical base isolation which isolates the vertical vibrations, having natural periods of ≥1 second and a method for executing the construction. ;SOLUTION: The structure of vertical base isolation is composed of a cylinder and rod mechanism 3, provided with a cylinder housing a hydraulic fluid in the lower chamber of a piston 3b, the piston 3a which moves upward and downward in the cylinder 3a, and the rod 3c of the piston 3b and is set up vertically on a vibration isolating layer between an upper structure 1 and a lower structure 2, an accumulator 4 housing the hydraulic fluid and a pressurized gas, and a hydraulic piping 5 which connects the lower chamber of the piston 3b of the mechanism 3 to the hydraulic fluid portion in the accumulator 4.
