PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a belt for a continuously variable transmission and its element having excellent strength and durability without increasing its size.;SOLUTION: The element of the belt for the continuously variable transmission is united by a ring 8 arranged by inserting in a saddle face 9 while annularly arranged with positions aligned, and includes a retaining part 10b, which covers a part of a side edge part of the ring 8 on the saddle face 9 integrally formed through a neck part 10a extending upward from the saddle face 9. A recessed part 14 formed by recessing to a saddle face 9 side is formed on a corner part 13 where the saddle face 9 and a side surface of the neck part 10a cross. An inner surface of the recessed part 14 comprises a first inner surface 14a smoothly connected to the side surface 15 of the neck part 10a and having a relatively large curvature radius, and a second inner surface 14b smoothly continuing to the first inner surface 14a and having a relatively small curvature radius.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
