PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To respond to improvement of the speed when reading information of all pixels, and to perform accurate pixel addition in a vertical direction. PSOLUTION: While an MOS type solid imaging apparatus includes two capacitors 32-1, 32-2 which store electric charge of each pixel of two rows, it also includes two electric charge/voltage conversion amplifiers 23-1. 23-2 which respectively output pixel signals corresponding to electric charge stored in the respective capacitors 32-1, 32-2. The MOS type solid imaging apparatus includes switches 25, 26 which selectively shorten between input terminals and output terminals of the two electric charge/voltage conversion amplifiers 23-1, 23-2; in a first driving mode, analog signals are read out in a condition of two line outputs in which the switches 25, 26 are in a condition not shortened; and in a second driving mode, an average value is read out in a condition that the switches 25, 26 are shortened.
