Crystalline form of vinflunine ditartrate

Disclosed is a crystalline form of vinflunine ditartrate and its physio-chemical properies characterised by infrared spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction spectrum. Also disclosed is a process for preparing the said crystalline form comprising the steps of; - dissolving vinflunine ditartrate in an alcohol/water mixture, - slowly evaporating the solvent mixture at room temperature, in the open air or under vacuum. - filtering and recovering the crystals formed, - rinsing, and drying the crystals under vacuum. Use of the crystalline form of vinflunine ditartrate for the preparation of a medicament for treating cancer is also disclosed.
