Disclosed is a magnetic head capable of preventing unauthorized acquisition of magnetic information in a card, and for which miniaturization is possible. A magnetic head (3) is provided with a core; a coil that is wound around the core; terminals (5) to which end portions of the coil are connected; a substrate (8) on which are equipped a demodulating electronic component (6) that demodulates an analog output signal output from the terminals (5) and generates a digital demodulated signal, and an encrypting electronic component (7) that encrypts the demodulated signal and generates an encrypted signal; a cable (9) that electrically connects the demodulating electronic component (6) to the terminals (5); and a case body (11) in which the core, the coil, the terminals (5), and the cable (9) are housed. The demodulating electronic component (6) is provided on one side (8a) of the substrate (8), and the encrypting electronic component (7) is provided on the other side (8b) of the substrate (8). The substrate (8) is fixed to the case body (11) so that the demodulating electronic component (6) is arranged in an interior of the case body (11), and the encrypting electronic component (7) is arranged on an exterior of the case body (11).
