PURPOSE: A dual mode trailer for loading/unloading a container is provided so that a horizontal transfer device can be installed on a trailer without a separate external driving unit and so that the lower part of a container on the trailer can be loaded through the horizontal transfer device moving horizontally between the trailer and a freight car so that the loaded container can be unloaded on the freight car.;CONSTITUTION: A dual mode trailer for loading/unloading a container comprises a horizontal running unit(110), a vertical driving unit, and a support(130). The horizontal running unit comprises a body, a pair of hydraulic motors, driving wheels, and a chain. The body comprises frames that maintain level and face each other. The driving wheels are rotatably installed between the frames and rotate by the torque from the hydraulic motor. The vertical driving unit comprises a hydraulic cylinder, a cooperative link, and a stopper. The hydraulic cylinder is located on the appropriate position of the frame in the longitudinal direction of the frame.
