PURPOSE: An oil prospecting ship with a transverse pipe loading system and a method for loading and conveying a riser or a drill pipe in the oil prospecting ship are provided to reduce the weight of the oil prospecting ship by lowering the mounting height of a crane.;CONSTITUTION: An oil prospecting ship with a transverse pipe loading system comprises drill pipes(5), a catwalk(25), a crane(37), and a drill floor(14). The drill pipes are loaded in a loading space(30) in a width direction of the oil prospecting ship. The catwalk is arranged on the front of the loading space. A turntable(26) and a conveyor(27) are installed on the top of the catwalk. The crane is moved along a rail(39) arranged on an upper deck(16). The drill floor is connected to the catwalk. The drill pipe is transferred to the turntable by the crane and is rotated. The rotated drill pipe is transferred to the drill floor by the conveyor.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2011
