The method involves using a test device (10). The test device comprises free electrodes (13,13') that are connected to a trigger electrode (12) mounted a printed circuit board (PCB) (2). The free electrodes are made to contact a surface area (6) of a package (5) of the electric component (1). Resistors (L1,L2) mounted on the PCB are connected to terminals (3-1-3-3) of the integrated circuit chip (4) functioning as the low impedance terminal resistors (A1-A3). Based on the flow of current between the free electrode/trigger electrodes, the electric component is tested. An independent claim is included for device for testing the electrical component.
