The architecture (100) has an exhaust conduit (16) traversing an exhaust gas treatment device (12) and successively with inlets of recirculation and by-pass conduits (41, 42) and an exhaust flap (44). The inlet of the conduit (41) traverses a cooling device (40) i.e. exhaust heat recovery system, and opens into an intake conduit (4) upstream of a compressor (2) of a turbocharger (14). The inlet of the conduit (42) opens into the conduit (41), and is placed downstream of the device (40). The flap is adapted to different positions to vary a passage section of the conduit (16). Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) an internal combustion engine comprising an intake conduit (2) a method for reducing pollutant emissions at the starting of an internal combustion engine (3) a method for heating a fluid of an internal combustion engine using an exhaust architecture (4) a method for recirculating an exhaust gas using an exhaust architecture (5) a method for utilizing an internal combustion engine.
