PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a packaged sugar-free tea beverage by manufacturing a tea extract with reduced bitter and astringent tastes while maintaining the proper taste of tea, and using the tea extract.;SOLUTION: A method of manufacturing a tea extract includes a process for reducing volatile substances derived from tea leaves, in a manufacturing process for the tea extract, thereby providing the tea extract with substantially reduced bitter and astringent tastes. A packaged sugar-free tea beverage containing the tea extract and a method of manufacturing the same are provided.
