PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide technique in which high frequency video sequence is displayed on a matrix display while maintaining motion quality of an input source. ;SOLUTION: In order to display a video source having a higher frame rate than a conventional frame rate, a common portion (Vx) being displayed by a low frequency fv/2 is extracted from two continuous pixels of two continuous video frames. On the other hand, individual portions (V1' and V2') of corresponding pixels are displayed by a correct high frequency fv. A time interval, in which the two frames are displayed, is divided into three subgroups. Two groups of the subfields having similar sizes display the individual portions and one group of a subfield being called a special code displays the common portion. Thus, flicker defect of a large region is eliminated from a PDP and actual high frequency video is displayed on the PDP without a frame drop.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
