Hold-type display panel control method involves addressing and sequentially displaying video information of an image in cells of a panel. A black image is addressed in the cells, before and after displaying the video image. Null video information is simultaneously addressed at several lines of the cells at the same time for displaying the black image. A loss of video level on certain lines by simultaneous addressing is compensated by modifying video image levels. An independent claim is also included for a device of controlling a hold-type video image display panel.
