PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for measuring the rolling resistance of a tyre and an apparatus for the same, eliminating errors caused by the measurement based upon the bearing frictional torque (My) and the overturning moment (Mx), and aiming to improve the measurement precision. SOLUTION: By means of a multicomponent-of-force detector 4 disposed at a position wherein a prescribed distance L is given between a tyre 1 mounted on a spindle 5 for supporting the tyre by way of a shaft bearing 10, while the tyre is pressurized to contact the outer periphery of a traveling drum 2, the apparatus for measuring the rolling resistance of a tyre determines at least fx, fz, mx, my of all the six components of force fx, fy, fz, mx, my, mz in a system of Cartesian coordinate systems x, y and z, wherein x is the direction of action of the rolling resistance of a tyre, y is the direction of action of the lateral force, z is the direction of action of the axle load. Forces fx is a force exerted upon the x-axis direction, fy is a force exerted upon the y-axis direction, fz is a force exerted upon the z-axis direction, and mx is a torque (moment) working around the x-ax, my is a torque (moment) working around the y-ax, and mz is a torque (moment) working around the z-ax. Then, at least the first order interference correction is made on the interference of the four components fx, fz, mx and mz of force thus measured, thereby allowing the axle load Fz and the rolling resistance Fx of the tyre to be measured.
