PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a base cloth for a non-coat airbag for a high pressure extension, excellent in housing property while maintaining the strength and low air permeability necessary as the air bag, and a fiber for the airbag giving the base cloth for the airbag. ;SOLUTION: This base cloth for the airbag by using a synthetic fiber multi- filament having 1.5-8.0 flatness ratio of the cross section of its monofilament, ≤10 dtex monofilament fineness, 200-1,000 dtex total fineness in both warp yarn/weft yarn or one of them satisfies the following (1) to (3) simultaneously. (1) A cover factor is 1,700-2,200. (2) An air permeability (PL) under a low pressure is ≤0.1 cc/cm2/sec. (3) An air permeability (PH) under a high pressure is ≤20 cc/cm2/sec.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
