A method for early evaluation of secretory function of pancreas in full-term newborns includes determination of amylase in peripheral blood, and is characterized in that the amylase level is tested in cord and peripheral blood, and if its values 6.5-57.8 U in cord blood and 6.9-7.4 U in peripheral blood the secretory function of pancreas is considered to be physiological.
