The invention relates to a thermaldestruction process for at least one organic orhalogenated organic product in liquid, gaseous orpowder form. The process includes- mixing:- of the aforementioned one or more organicproducts with water in sufficient quantities toensure that at least stoichiometric ratiosbetween atoms of carbon and oxygen in the mixtureare obtained,or- of the aforementioned one or more halogenatedorganic products with water in sufficientquantities to ensure that at least thestoichiometric ratios for, on the one hand, atomsof carbon and oxygen in the mixture, and on theother hand, for hydrogen and halogen atoms in themixture are obtained,- introduction of this mixture and of plasmagenic gasesinto the coil of an inductively coupled plasma torch toproduce gas in which decomposition into atomic elementshas occurred,- an initial thermal destruction operation of theaforementioned gas in which decomposition into atomicelements has occurred, this initial destructionoperation taking place in a reaction chamber,- a second thermal destruction operation of the gasthat has undergone the initial destruction operation,this second destruction operation taking place in astirring device with no energy being added, this gaswhich undergoes the second thermal destructionoperation being stirred with air and/or oxygen,- recombination by cooling of at least a part of thegas emerging from the stirring device,- discharge of the gas that has been destroyed.The invention also relates to a device thatallows this destruction process to be applied.
