Pushing and pulling equipment on wheels, rollers, bearings, tracks, slides, etc in order to relocate that equipment or to use the equipment to move things including but not limited to goods, materials, substances, people, animals, etc is a manual handling task. The ergonomic effort indicator for pushing and pulling assists measurement of task demands where human effort is used to push and pull equipment. The device provides an instrumented interface to enable force application with one or two hands to be measured continuously or instantaneously. The device has application in industry, commerce and other settings. It can be used to inform task, equipment, system, and space design, rehabilitation, injury prevention, and incident investigation.
