A detection circuit comprising an AD converter and a processing unit is provided. Shunt resistors are connected in series to a plurality of battery cells. The A/D converter has single-polarity that converts 0 voltage or higher to digital values. The processing unit selectively inputs the terminal voltage for each battery cell and the voltage at both ends of the shunt resistors to the A/D converter. In addition, when the voltage at both ends of the shunt resistors is negative, the processing unit converts negative voltages to positive voltages and inputs same into the A/D converter, by inverting the polarity of negative voltages through a polarity switching unit.
