Salts of dimethylaminoethanol fatty acid esters of general formula (I) in which R is a C₆-C₁₆ linear or branched alkyl radical, X^- = I^-, Cl^-, Br^-, mesylate, tosylate, phosphate, salicylate, mandelate, glycolate, having bacteriostatic, mycostatic, yeaststatic and/or microbicide activity to be used in purifying or cleansing formulations for the skin, mucosa and ear.
