The method involves partially removing dirt, lime and/or corrosion on an upper surface of an interior of food processing devices depending on a preset cleaning rate and rate of pollution. A cleaning process of the food processing devices is completed in a time point. The cleaning rate is determined by a characteristic parameter in another time point for operating the food processing devices. Another characteristic parameter for another cleaning process is automatically determined in the latter time point. An independent claim is also included for a food processing device comprising a heating device.
