VOLTAGE REGULATOR HAVING AN OVER-CURRENT PROTECTION FUNCTION

PURPOSE: A voltage regulator is provided to implement over-current protection without increase of power consumption by detecting current with the voltage of a resistance connected to the drain of an output transistor.;CONSTITUTION: An error amplification circuit(102) amplifies the difference between a reference voltage and a divided voltage and controls the gate of an output transistor. An over-current protection circuit monitors the output current of the output transistor. A sense resistance is installed in the drain of the output transistor and senses output current. An offset comparator(110) compares voltages at both ends of the sense resistance. A first transistor has a gate connected to the output terminal of the offset comparator and a drain connected to the gate of the output transistor.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2012
