A method to estimate the equivalent plate thickness for the ultimate strength calculations of stiffened panels with non-uniform plate thickness

PURPOSE: A board thickness calculating method for final structural calculation of a reinforcement plate with non uniformed thickness is provided to reduce manufacturing processes and to prevent the strength degradation of a structure due to frequent welding work. CONSTITUTION: An area of a designed part reinforcement plate whole is calculated. A reinforcement plate total area, a total area of board, and an area of an 'I' board are calculated. The total area of the reinforcing material and the whole volume of the designed part reinforcement plate are calculated. The board whole volume, the area of the 'I' board and the thickness of the 'I' board are calculated. The board thickness of the part reinforcement plate is computed by using the reinforcing material whole volume of the part reinforcement plate and the calculated part reinforcement plate whole volume.
