PURPOSE: A method for measuring damage to spinal cord is provided to measure the degree of spinal cord injury by extending the backbone of an animal in a longitudinal direction. CONSTITUTION: A method for measuring damage to spinal cord is as follows. The back of an anesthetized object is opened and the backbone(12) is exposed. Two pairs of spinal fixation screws are installed in the adjacent backbone. The backbone between two pairs of spinal fixation screws is cut. The stimulation delivery capability of the spinal cord is measured.
