A system and a method for providing a mobile payment service using a mobile terminal are provided to increase the convenience of users in purchasing goods by speedily and exactly processing mobile payment for purchasing goods. A system for providing a mobile payment service comprises a mobile terminal(102), an MSC(106), a web server(112), a mobile banking service server(116), and an exit and entry control system(120). The mobile terminal(102) receives the identification code of a desired article to purchase, transmits a payment key signal through a wireless communication network(104), provides payment detail information, and executes payment completion processing for the purchased article. The MSC(106) receives the payment key signal from the mobile terminal(102), transmits it to the web server(112) and the mobile banking service server(116) together with terminal information and subscriber information, and transmits the payment detail information to the mobile terminal(102). The web server(112), receiving the payment key signal, extracts information on the article from a web information DB(114), and delivers the extracted information to the mobile banking service server(116). The mobile banking service server(116) executes mobile payment according to the article information, the payment key signal, the terminal information, and the subscriber information, and transmits the payment detail information to the MSC(106) and the exit and entry control system(120). The exit and entry control system(120), receiving the payment detail information from the mobile banking service server(116) and storing it, identifies the mobile terminal(102), receives the identification code of the article, and completes payment. In case payment for the article is not completed, the exit and entry control system(120) raises a payment request alarm.
