The invention relates to a method for cold gas spraying a layer, for which purpose coating particles (17) are accelerated in a cold spray nozzle (11) and, according to the invention, these particles (17) are provided with a coating made of plastic. In this way, the plastic is deposited together with the metallic material on the substrate, as a result of which, in particular, layer compositions with good sliding properties, dirt-repellent properties or lubricating properties are formed. Such a coating is also protected, and the uses of such a coating as a bearing component of a plain bearing, as a flow component, in particular as a rotor blade of wind power plants or body parts of means of transport, or as cladding components of buildings are also protected.
