The damper has a plate spring placed between an upper spring element (2) and a lower spring element (6). Two single spring element units (2b, 6b) are implemented in a shape memory alloy of the upper and the lower spring elements. A permanent magnet (1a) is placed in a vertical direction on the damper for providing oscillation to the damper. A solenoid coil (4) is worn by a carrier (5) to be secured at an appropriate location of a body of a vehicle. A sensor system is provided for determining the body oscillation of the vehicle. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating an active oscillation damper for a motor car.
