Coolant pump for internal combustion engine, has electrically controllable magnetic brake which slows down impeller in energized state, such that rotational speed of impeller is controlled independent of speed of chain/belt pulley
The coolant pump has a chain/belt pulley (2) for driving the pump, and a viscous coupling (4) that is arranged between the chain/belt pulley and an impeller (3). An electrically controllable magnetic brake (5) in the energized state slows down the impeller, such that rotational speed of impeller is controlled independent of the rotational speed of the chain/belt pulley.
