PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system for controlling a portable device by using a motion detection device, and a method thereof, a system for inputting data to the portable device, and a method thereof.SOLUTION: Use of motion sensing to perform complicated command control and data input into a portable device is disclosed. A motion detection device is embedded or fixedly attached to the portable device to measure motion or tilt of the device in one-, two-, or three-dimensions when the portable device is used to air-write or make gestures. Use of full motion information such as a rate of change of the motion or the tilt angle to perform functions and commands is also disclosed.
