PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of protecting a roll mold which can protect a work pattern formed on the outer circumferential surface of the roll mold, as well as a method of manufacturing an optical sheet using the roll mold.;SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing the optical sheet comprises the steps of: arranging a sheet base material 9 around the roll mold 3, then starting the conveyance of the sheet base material 9 by rotating the roll mold 3, starting irradiation of the roll mold 3 with ultraviolet rays, supplying a monomer into a space between the roll mold 3 and the sheet base material 9 and curing the monomer with the ultraviolet rays, and forming a complementary optical pattern to the work pattern on the sheet base material 9. In addition, on the outer circumferential surface of the roll mold 3, a protective film 21 for protecting the work pattern is previously arranged, and the protective film 21 is bonded to the sheet base material 9 by the supplied monomer and removed from the roll mold 3.
