PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a glass substrate with an organic thin film from which foreign matter and dirt can easily be removed even when they adhere to the surface thereof, and to provide a glass substrate with an organic thin film.;SOLUTION: The method includes a covering step of forming a thin film of an organic material on a surface of a glass substrate GS. In the covering step, the surface of the glass substrate GS is exposed to an atmosphere of a phthalic acid ester, whereby the phthalic acid ester is deposited on the surface of the glass substrate GS in such a way that an average deposition amount of the phthalic acid ester on the surface becomes 0.5-15 ng/cm², and at least 0.1 ng of the phthalic acid ester is deposited on optional 1 cm² of the surface of the glass substrate GS.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
