The present invention relates to a novel antimicrobial peptide which includes at least eight consecutive aminoacids, the peptide including a sequence of the following formula: Ter1-X1-B1-X2-B2-X3-Z1-Z2-X4-Ter2. In addition, the peptide may also include modified termini. The peptide is effective for the treatment or prevention of inflammatory and infectious diseases caused by microorganisms such as bacteria or fungi.
