In a particular embodiment, a device is disclosed that includes means for allowing a single multi-pass return arc for a recirculating linear accelerator (RLA) to return more than a single energy pass of a charged particle beam. The device also includes means for simplifying a design of the RLA and means for reducing a cost of the RLA.
