The spraying device (1) has a spray gun (2) for thermally spraying a spraying material (3), where the spray gun has a combustion chamber (4) for combusting fluid fuels (5, 51) e.g. kerosene and alcohol, to hot combustion gas (6). An injection device (11) i.e. injection nozzle, injects the fuels into the chamber under predeterminable injection pressure (PE) according to a predetermined spraying method (12). The injection device injects the fuels into the chamber during an injection period and does not inject the fuels into the chamber during a locking period. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a spraying device.
