The invention relates to the use of acylhydrazones and the pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof of the general formula I, where X, Y mean nitrogen or carbon respectively, wherein one residue X or Y is a nitrogen, and the other respective residue X or Y is a carbon; R1, R2 are a hydroxyl group or hydrogen respectively, wherein when a residue R1 or R2 is a hydroxyl group, the respective other residue R1, R2 is a hydrogen; R3 is a hydrogen or a methoxyl group and R4 is a methyl group or no further substituent, for preventing the development of resistance or reversing the resistance of tumours to cytostatic drugs.
