摘要

The present invention relates to activating transcription factor 3 (ATF3) used for predicting toxicity or as a therapeutic target, and, more specifically, the ATF3 of the present invention features markedly increased expression in cells treated with doxorubicin and cisplatin which are anticancer chemotherapy agents or with cyclosporine which is an immunosuppressant having toxic adverse effects, and thus the present invention can be used for predicting the toxicity of an anticancer agent or immunosuppressant or else a toxic substance or as a therapeutic target therefor. Consequently, the ATF3 can be used as a marker for predicting toxicity due to anticancer agents, immunosuppressants, drugs or toxic substances in various human organs, notably the kidneys, and can be used as a target for developing anticancer therapy agents, immunosuppressants and other drugs able to prevent cytotoxic adverse reactions by suppressing ATF3 since it has been confirmed that suppression of ATF3 expression alleviates toxicity due to toxic substances and drugs.
