Processes for the manufacture of a catalyst composition are provided comprising undertaking a reductive co-precipitation reaction between a titanium containing compound and molybdenum containing compound, wherein the titanium compound comprises titanium in a low oxidation state and the molybdenum containing compound comprises molybdenum in a high oxidation state. Catalyst composition produced by the process are particularly suited to use in hydrocarbon hydrodesulphurisation (HDS) treatment.
