Use of modified nanoparticles in wooden composite for reducing the emission of volatile organic compounds, is claimed, where the nanoparticle is modified with at least one silicon compound (I). Use of modified nanoparticles in wooden composite for reducing the emission of volatile organic compounds, is claimed, where the nanoparticle is modified with at least one silicon compound of formula ((R1) aSiX 4 - a) (I). X : H, OH or a hydrolyzable group consisting of halo, alkoxy, carboxy, amino, monoalkylamino, dialkylamino, aryloxy, acyloxy or alkylcarbonyl; R : a nonhydrolyzable organic group consisting of alkyl, aryl, alkenyl, alkynyl, cycloalkyl or cycloalkenyl (all optionally substituted and optionally interrupted by -O- or -NH-), where R exhibits a functional group Q; Q : epoxide, OH, ether, amino, monoalkylamino, dialkylamino, optionally substituted anilino, amide, carboxy, alkynyl, acryl, acryloxy, methacryl, methacryloxy, mercapto, CN, alkoxy, isocyanato, aldehyde, alkylcarbonyl, acid anhydride and/or phosphoric acid; and a : 1-3. Independent claims are included for: (1) producing the wooden composite with a reduced emission of volatile organic compounds comprising (a) manufacturing wood chips from a timber, (b) chipping the wood chips to wood flour, (c) temporary storing the wood flour, (d) drying the wood flour, (e) sorting or screening wood flour according to the size of the wood chips, (f) optionally further grinding the wood flour, (g) depositing wood flour on a conveyor belt by wind and/or wind throw direction to form litter mat and (h) pressing the conveyor belt arranged on the wood flour, where at least one suspension comprising the modified nanoparticles is added during or after the steps (b)-(h), and the suspension is in the form of an aqueous solution and contains at least 20 wt.% of the modified nanoparticle; and (2) the wooden composite manufactured by the above process.
