PURPOSE: A watt-hour meter, a security communication method thereof, and a remote meter reading system using the same are provided to maximize communication security and encryption speed in data communication between a watt-hour meter and a superordinate server, by encoding device information into a public key in a device authentication process and encoding measurement information into a secret key in a data communication process.;CONSTITUTION: The device information of a watt-hour meter is encoded into a public key(S100), and the measurement information of a watt-hour meter is transmitted to a superordinate server. Device information includes the device number and manufacturing information of the watt-hour meter and shows the inherent identifying information of each watt-hour meter. The superordinate server compares identified device information with stored device information. If in coincidence, the superordinate server approves the authentication of the device, sends the authorization information to the watt-hour meter, and registers the corresponding watt-hour meter. At this time, measurement information is encoded into a secret key(S200). The secret key is stored in the superordinate server and the watt-hour meter in advance.
