APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR SUPER-RESOLUTION BASED ON ERROR MODEL OF SINGLE IMAGE

PURPOSE: A super-resolution image restoration apparatus based on an error model of a single image and a method thereof are provided to quickly realize super-resolution with a simple configuration by generating the error model and additionally utilizing parameters in a spatial domain. CONSTITUTION: An error computation unit (110) generates an error model by calculating errors between an input image and pixels of a low resolution image which is downsampled from the input image. A sign change computation unit (120) calculates the number of sign changes between pixels which are included in a given size mask applied around each pixel of the input image. A gradient computation unit (130) generates a gradient map which comprises gradients between each pixel of the input image and an adjacent pixel. An image improvement unit (140) applies the error model, the number of sign changes and the gradient map to a high resolution image which is upsampled from the input image.
