A method of allocating symbols for reference signals in mobile communication systems and a method for transmitting and receiving signals using sub-frames therefor are provided to execute effectively transmission and reception by enhancing channel estimation capacity. In a method of allocating plural symbols(L OFDM symbols) for reference signals in a sub-frame, a first reference signal symbol among the plural symbols for the reference signals is arranged in the first L symbols of the sub-frame and a second reference signal symbol among the plural symbols for reference signals is arranged in the last L symbols of the sub-frame. Distances between the plural symbols for the reference signals are adjusted to have a minimum difference.
