The method involves acquiring (S1) three-dimensional (3D) data set of an examination zone. The image in an optical supervision section of examination zone is captured (S2) by optical detection system of endoscopic instrument. The spatial position and orientation of optical detection system of endoscopic instrument is determined (S3). The captured image with 3D data set is registered (S4) by optical detection system and the captured image with 3D data set is represented (S5). An independent claim is included for an image-supported navigation device.
