The method of controlling the switches (20, 22, 27, 29, 34, 36) of a current rectifier fitted to a motor vehicle comprises steps in which: a neutral point current intensity required at the output of the vehicle is determined; rectifier, it determines the coordinates of the current vector for obtaining said neutral point current in the Fresnel space comprising six sectors delimited by six remarkable vectors, -on determines a half-sector comprising the current vector among twelve half -sectors forming the Fresnel space, -on determines a weighted vector combination of two remarkable vectors delimiting the Fresnel sector to obtain the current vector, -switches the switches of the current rectifier to obtain the current vector in function of the weighting coefficients, and to obtain a freewheeling vector for the remaining duration of the cutting period minimizing the variations of tensio n between the mass and the voltage rectifier when switching from one switch to another.
