An animal ectoparasite control agent comprising a benzylamide compound represented by the formula (1): wherein R represents a hydrogen atom; a halogen atom; a cyano group; a C 1 -C 6 alkyl group; a C 1 -C 6 haloalkyl group; a C 1 -C 6 alkoxy group or a C 1 -C 6 haloalkoxy group; and R represents a C to C alkyl group substituted with one or more C 1 -C 4 alkoxy groups; a C 1 to C 6 alkyl group substituted with one or more cyano groups; a C 1 -C 6 alkyl group; a C 1 -C 6 -haloalkyl group or a C 2 -C 8 -cycloalkyl group as an active ingredient and an inert carrier has an excellent effect against animal ectoparasites.
