PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of recovering a renewable resource which allows recovering rare earth elements easily and efficiently from e.g. rare earth magnets collected from scrap and recovers remaining iron effectively without discarding.SOLUTION: A method of recovering a renewable resource includes a reaction step of heating a mixture of waste containing rare earth elements (RE) and Fe, alkali type elements (AE) comprising one or more of alkali metal and alkaline earth metal elements and reactants containing B and O to cause oxidation reduction reaction and a separation step of cooling the mixture after the reaction step to obtain an aggregate and separating the aggregate into a first product based on rare earth oxides and a second product based on Fe and B. The method enables efficient separation/recovery of rare earth elements and iron, renewable resources, from waste.
