PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for infrared-heating a steel sheet, which contributes to producing a steel sheet having desired characteristic distribution, and contributes to laborsaving of a forming process of a steel sheet and simplification of forming equipment.SOLUTION: A method for infrared-heating a steel sheet includes a whole heating step of infrared-heating a steel sheet evenly to a point A3 or more, and a temperature distribution control step of partially reducing strength of infrared applied to the steel sheet after the whole heating step to generate in the steel sheet a first area having the temperature of the point A3 or more and a second area having the temperature less than a point A1.
