PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the accuracy of a distance measurement, in a stereo camera with an ultrashort baseline length. PSOLUTION: A distance image acquisition device includes: an image capture means for extracting a plurality of stereoscopic image pairs having images captured by using a plurality of identical stereoscopic image capturing systems; a parallax detection means for detecting a plurality of parallax images from a plurality of the stereoscopic image pairs; a parallax evaluating means for normalizing each parallax of a plurality of the parallax images based on a baseline length of the stereoscopic image capturing system, and for implementing a parallax similarity evaluation of each parallax of a plurality of the parallax images by the normalized parallax (the normalization parallax); and a distance detection means for calculating a distance between an object by using the normalized parallax as a parallax similarity evaluation results of a plurality of the parallax images, and detecting one distance image.
